Learning to climb stairs after a surgical, orthopedic or medical condition is an important part of Physical Therapy program. It is more challenging than walking because of the need to bend the legs and use the weak/affected leg to propel oneself forward. * USES: – for patient suffering from lower extremity impairments (fractures, hip/knee replacement, osteoarthritis) – lack of balance or other condition that affect their ability to move (cerebrovascular disease, parkinson’s disease) * EFFECTS – General strengthening of the body – Improved coordination – Enhanced self confidence – Improved balance Note: The adage up with the good, down with the bad applies to safe stair navigation
